SAIC wins $10M contract to support DARPA antisubmarine needs

SAIC has won a contract to provide a deep ocean acoustic detection to support DARPA’s Antisubmarine Warfare surveillance needs.

Science Applications International Corp. has won a $10 million single-award contract with DARPA to provide deep ocean acoustic detection for transformational reliable acoustic path systems.

Transformational reliable acoustic path systems, or TRAPS, are fixed passive sonar nodes designed to achieve large-area coverage by exploiting advantages of operating from the deep seafloor, SAIC said in a release.

The company has already completed Phase 1B, and Phase 2 under previous contracts.

This contract is for Phase 3, which has SAIC expanding the number of prototype nodes to demonstrate a scalable distributed system prototype system to detect quiet submarines, the company said.

SAIC will supply DARPA with a capability to use systems of configurable technology to meet antisubmarine warfare surveillance needs, the company said.
