URS grows UAV business with Air Force

URS Technical Services has won a $14.2 million option with the Air Force to provide program support for Air Combat Command's Unmanned Aircraft System Operations Center. The option brings the total value of the contract is $124.6 million.

Under the fixed-price-plus-award-fee contract, URS will support the center through providing MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles.

These vehicles will provide the warfighter long endurance, real-time reconnaissance and surveillance and precision attack against fixed and time critical targets, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed at Creech Air Force Base, Nev., Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., and Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., and is expected to be completed by June 2014.
