Lockheed wins $304.4M contract supporting Aegis development

Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training has won a $304.4 million contract with the U.S. Navy to provide a variety of technical services in support of Aegis development and test sites.

The cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract has a base value of $6.9 million, but options increase its value.

Lockheed will provide technical engineering, configuration management, associated equipment/supplies, quality assurance, information assurance and other operations and maintenance services.

These services will go toward the development of the Aegis Combat system which is an integrated naval weapons system that uses computers and radars to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets.

The services will also support test sites, including the Combat Systems Engineering Development Site, SPY-1A Test Facility and the Naval Systems Computing Center.

The contract combines Foreign Military Sales purchases for the U.S. Navy and the governments of Japan, Korea, Spain, Norway and Australia, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., Valley Force, Pa., and Washington, D.C., and is expected to be completed by May 2018.

Funding in the amount of $6.5 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2013.

Last week, Lockheed won a $10 million Aegis contract for work on the USS Fitzgerald.
