GE to put $2B toward health care data analytics

General Electric Healthcare is planning to spend $2 billion over the next five years to provide tools that promote the efficiency of hospitals nationwide, according to Forbes.

Hospitals are looking for ways to improve patient care and reduce their financial risk as Medicare reimbursements shift from fee-for-service to performance-based payments.

GE Healthcare will help this effort, using the $2 billion to build data analytics on its electronic health record platform.
