Northrop wins $555M Global Hawk contract

Northrop Grumman has wins contract to modernize its Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle for the U.S. Air Force, including program and business management and other engineering efforts.

Northrop Grumman has won a $555.6 million contract with the U.S. Air Force to improve the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle.

The Global Hawk can carry a variety of surveillance and intelligence systems, including near real-time high resolution imagery and other reconnaissance capabilities.

 Task areas under this contract include program, business and technical management; engineering efforts including configuration management, data management, reliability, availability and maintainability.

Under the contract, the company will also provide services including technical refresh, diminishing manufacturing sources; studies and analysis; design, development, integration, test and evaluation; retrofit requirements; and integrated logistics support.

Work will be performed in San Diego and is expected to be completed by May 14, 2015.
