SRA nabs $30M contract for Army's radio frequency project

SRA International has won a contract with the U.S. Army to support its passive radio frequency identification initiative.

SRA International has won a five-year $30 million contract to support the U.S. Army’s passive radio frequency identification project.

The Army’s Product Director, Automated Movement and Identification Solutions, Passive Radio Frequency Identification II contract allows a common, integrated structure for logistic identification, tracking, locating and monitoring of commodities and assets for the Defense Department, SRA said in a release.

The contract exists because the Defense Department requires most suppliers of parts and commodities to mark their shipments with radio-frequency identification tags which enable tracking, the company said.

The contract also aids the U.S. Coast Guard, NATO, coalition partners, foreign military sales and other federal agencies.

Toward this effort, SRA will provide communications, hardware and software, technical engineering services, documentation, maintenance and other services.
