Raytheon wins $30M Navy contract to improve battlefield sensors
Raytheon Co. has won a contract modification to provide engineering services in support of the cooperative engagement capabilities program, or CEC, a system of sensors that can improve situational awareness.
Raytheon Co. has won a $30 million contract modification with the U.S. Navy for design agent and engineering services in support of the Cooperative Engagement Capabilities program, or CEC.
This modification is cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-only, the Defense Department said in a release.
The CEC is a sensor netting system that improves battle force anti-air warfare capability by extracting and distributing sensor-derived information so that all participating CEC units have access to it, the Defense Department said.
The system improves overall situational awareness and enables longer range, cooperative, multiple, or layered engagement strategies.
Work will take place in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Largo, Fla., and is expected to be completed by September 2013.
Funds in the amount of $2.1 million are obligated at the time of the award, of which $1.6 million of those funds will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
