United States, China form cybersecurity working group

The United States is teaming up with China through a working group on cybersecurity that the two countries are forming, according to secretary of state John Kerry, The Times of India reported. The two countries have set aside mutual accusations of hacking and internet theft, and have agreed on the need to increase efforts going toward cybersecurity, which Washington has called its top national security concern.

Cybersecurity “affects the financial sector, banks, financial transactions, every aspect of nations in modern times are affected by the use of cybernetworking and obviously all of us – every nation – has an interest in protecting its people, protecting its rights, protecting its infrastructure,” The Times of India quoted Kerry as saying.

And cybersecurity is an area that these two countries, the United States and China, should be able to increase mutual trust and cooperation, China’s official Xinhua news agency quoted foreign minister Wang Yi as saying to Kerry during their meeting.
