Contractors wanted to 'evolve' DISN

DISA wants to move out the old, and bring in the new for the Defense Information System Network. It's released a request for information on contractors who can bring in new technologies.
The Defense Information Systems Agency is collecting information on contractors capable of taking the Defense Information System Network to the next level.
In a request for information, DISA is looking for information replacing obsolete technologies with new technology for the DISN transport network. The network is a terrestrial-based telecommunications infrastructure that is part of the Global Information Grid.
The current network was acquired and deployed beginning in 2004, with legacy ATM and Promina equipment. DISA wants the network to evolve into one that uses Internet Protocol, Ethernet and fiber optics.
The network has three elements: transport service access and aggregation, core switching, and a fiber optic backbone.
Responses are due March 7, and should be in a white paper format. They should be no longer than 50 pages long.
DISA wants companies to include what contracts they can use to sell the agency new equipment.
