Salient Federal Solutions won a $17 million contract to support the Office Personnel Management as it develops systems to manage retirement, health and insurance benefits for more than 10 million people.

The company will provide life-cycle software application services for operations and maintenance and to improve services for 2.4 million annuitants and 8 million federal employees who use OPM’s benefits system, the company said in a statement.

Salient will gather functional requirements and design and install benefits applications. Currently, the company supports 50 systems at OPM, where it has worked since 2000, the statement said.

The systems help process $5 billion in transactions each month, the company said.

The contract is for one year, but it has three one-year options.
