CACI's latest deal targets health care market

CACI International Inc. has made a deal to buy Emergint Technologies Inc., a small Kentucky business that has a variety of health care customers.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed but the Emergint brings $42 million in annual revenue and 300 employees, CACI said in an announcement.

The investment bank KippsDeSanto acted as an advisor to Emergint in the transaction, which should close by Dec. 1.

In making the deal, CACI cited Emergint’s experience provide health data integration and analysis solutions, data analytics, management and IT consulting, and data and records management. Major customers include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration.

The company is one of 30 prime contractors on a $5 billion CDC contract for information management services. According to Deltek’s contract database, Emergint has won 166 task orders worth $58.6 million under the contract since it was awarded in 2010.

Emergint was founded in Louisville, Ky., in 1999.

“CACI’s acquisition of Emergint opens new opportunities in our high-growth health care IT market and enables us to serve an even greater share of this market,” CACI CEO Dan Allen said in a statement.
