New buying strategy for AF Materiel Command
Effort underway to streamline, standardize how it acquires

The Air Force Materiel Command is initiating a new strategy for acquisitions that the agency says will streamline the purchasing of engineering and professional services.
The agency is launching a new website for AFMC Enterprise Services that will act as a single point of communications and participation with industry, according to the Air Force’s notice on the Fedbizopps.gov website.
According to the market research firm, Deltek, the command has about $136 billion in active opportunities.
The command wants to standardize the purchasing of engineering and professional services so that they align with the commands five major mission areas of life cycle management, test, sustainment, science and technology, and nuclear.
Standardization efforts will focus on the treatment of small business, contract types, contract terms, and simplified source selection processes.
“The goal of this initiative is to increase efficiency by reducing administrative burden through fewer, standardized strategic contracts,” the Air Force said in its notice.
The Fedbizopps.gov site will remain the easiest entry point for industry to follow acquisition, according to the notice, which did not include the web address for the enterprise services portal.
The first effort will be for the Air Force Test Center program, called the Test Mission Advisory Services.
The second effort will be for the AF Life Cycle Management Center, followed by the AF Sustainment Center.
