Liberty Group Ventures LLC, woman-owned small business specializing in risk management solutions, launched yesterday.

The company seeks to help organizations become more resilient by developing risk management solutions, enabling them to prepare for and respond to a variety of hazards, such as natural, man-made, brand, and reputation management.

"We apply best practices and lessons learned to develop customized, dynamic solutions to help clients become more resilient, agile and effective in handling their unique risks,” said Kiersten Todt Coon, company founder, president and chief executive officer.

Liberty Group Ventures will also offer cybersecurity gap analysis, crisis management training and tabletop exercises, for the sake of helping organizations prepare, respond and recover from disasters.

The company’s clients include Fortune 500 corporations, local and state governments, colleges and universities and sport stadiums.

Coon previously served as a partner of Good Harbor Consulting, where she supported the Arlington, Va., Office of Emergency Management, helping develop the Northern Virginia Recovery Resource Initiative. The initiative convened representatives from private, public and nonprofit sectors to examine recovery resource management, focusing on supply chain and the government’s role in supporting private sector post-disaster recovery efforts.

Before Good Harbor, Coon worked in the White House and on Capitol Hill, where she helped draft the legislation that created the Homeland Security Department. She also developed, in response to the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings, a security and risk management template for campuses that applies the strategic lessons of U.S. national security.
