Six contractors win $9.9M Navy contract for robot system

Six contractors will provide prototyping and engineering services in support of the Man Transportable Robotic System.

Six contractors have won a $9.9 million firm-fixed-price contract with the U.S. Army to provide prototyping and engineering services in support of the Man Transportable Robotic System.

The system is meant to detect and dispose of bombs in an area, making battlefields safer for soldiers, while also freeing them up to perform other operations.

Contractors on the bill are as follow:

Honeybee Robotics Ltd.
iRobot Corp.
RE2 Inc.
Savit Corp.
Science Applications International Corp.
Stratom Inc.

Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 30, 2017.

Eleven bids were received. The U.S. Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., is the contracting activity.
