NIH considers new health-related GWAC
Officials at the National Institutes of Health said on Feb. 6 they are planning a new governmentwide IT contract as a follow-up to its Electronic Commodity Store III contract.
NIH’s temporarily-titled Chief Information Officer-NEW contract will complement its soon-to-be awarded Chief Information Officer Solutions and Partners 3 (CIO-SP3) governmentwide acquisition contract (GWAC), officials wrote in a Federal Business Opportunities notice.
The National Institutes of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC) said agencies are undergoing a time of rapid change in both their general and health-related IT needs. The center is developing the new GWAC to support the evolution.
In this early stage, NITAAC wants industry’s perspective on the scope and the concepts of CIO-NEW. Officials want input on how to get the best value for agencies, including the right balance between large and small companies.
Based on the notice, CIO-NEW is broken down into product groups:
- Research and analytical equipment needing a computer to transmit data.
- Products and services that go beyond standard IT operations, including more information assurances.
- General IT products and services.
- Commodity IT service solutions.
