New publisher's plan for Washington Technology

David T. Smith, Washington Technology's new publisher, sets out his philosophy and goals for the magazine.

As the new publisher of Washington Technology, I am extremely excited about joining the Washington Technology team.

As we move into the new year, we are focused on serving our clients' informational needs and delivering the best products and services in the marketplace. 2012 is shaping up to be a terrific year and I would like to take this opportunity to share some of our plans.

Washington Technology is a leading publication in the technology marketplace and we look forward to continuing that tradition with strong editorial content which provides you with insight and actionable information that aids in the growth of your business. We have several key initiatives for 2012:

• Maintain our strong commitment to editorial excellence.
• Continue to serve our advertising partners with effective communications products and services.
• Aggressively develop new information products and services to serve our market.
• Implement the latest technology to enhance product deliverability.

Look for more and exciting developments from Washington Technology in the coming months.

A brief introduction of myself. I have been in publishing for 29 years and have been fortunate to hold senior leadership positions with prominent information companies such as McGraw-Hill, Thomson Reuters, Phillips Business Information, Business Financial Publishing, and Gannett Government Media. I have worked extensively with print and digital publications to facilitate the growth in subscriptions, advertising and event products.

I firmly believe outstanding journalism is critical to our success, and appreciate the value it delivers to our readership and advertising partners. I look forward to working closely with you, our clients, to help enhance our marketplace and serve your information needs.

I would like to extend an open door to all of our readers and encourage you to reach out and contact me. Your comments and input are most welcomed and I would enjoy the opportunity to interact.

Wishing the best of prosperity and success in 2012!
