BAE to upgrade Navy shipboard, airborne communications systems
BAE Systems will upgrade Navy communications systems under a five-year, $10.3 million modification award that exercises two options from a previously awarded contract.
Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee award, BAE’s Technology Solutions and Services subsidiary will support the Integrated Communication and Information Systems Division of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, according to a Jan. 25 Defense Department announcement.
The contract options call for BAE to design, integrate, test, install, train and certify shipboard communication systems; design and integrate like systems at shore sites associated with the deployment of fleet support to surface combatants; and design, test and integrate mobile and airborne communication systems designed to interface with C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence) architecture of surface combatants.
Work will be performed in St. Inigoes, Md., and is expected to be completed in September 2016.
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
