Report: VA favored Booz Allen for contract

An Inspector General report released Dec. 21 found that Veterans Affairs positioned a security contract in favor of incumbent Booz Allen Hamilton even though the contractor's proposal was at a premium price, reports Nextgov.

Booz Allen's bid  of $133 million was 22 percent above the least expensive competing bid of $108.9 million to support VA's chief information security officer and a third proposal was for $115 million.

The way VA structured the contracts requirements, such as knowledge of the agency's procedures and practices, gave the company a leg up, the article said.
