Serco wins task to shorten Navy software installation process

Serco Inc. has nabbed an engineering contract worth $34 million over five years to support the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) shorten the length of time from software development to installation.

The task order contract includes a one-year base and four one year options, according to a Dec. 21 press release .

The re-competed contract will provide engineering, testing, and support services to SPAWAR.

"We have been supporting SPAWAR and their predecessor engineering programs since 1989," said Kent Brown, vice president of Serco's engineering business unit, adding that the contract reaffirms the company's commitment to the Navy's mission.

The Reston, Va.-based provider of professional, technology, and management services to the federal government, will support SPAWAR throughout the cycle of command, control, communication, computers and intelligence program solutions. It is one of nine awardees on the contract.

Serco was ranked no. 28 on Washington Technology's 2011 list of the Top 100 largest government contractors.
