Jacobs acquires Aussie IT services provider

The acquisition aligns with Jacobs’ strategy to expand IT services across key markets and geographical areas.

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has gone down under to expand its information technology offerings.

The California-based company announced it has acquired Unique World, an IT services provider in Sydney, Australia, according to the Dec. 1 news release.

Financial terms of the agreement were not reported.

Jacobs views IT services to be a particularly strong market, and this acquisition aligns with its strategy to grow key markets in new and existing locations outside the United States, the announcement said.

The acquisition allows Jacobs to expand its capabilities in Australia to include IT services, as well as to expand its services with existing customers such as mining and minerals clients, the Defense Department and other public sector agencies and commercial businesses.

Unique World's IT services concentrate on information and knowledge management; enterprise collaboration and intranets and portals solutions using Microsoft SharePoint Server.

Jacobs Engineering Group, of Pasadena, Calif., ranks No. 20 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
