CGI picked for California's construction management system

The $13.7 million contract is to transform California's Transportation Department construction management system.

CGI Group Inc. has won a $13.7 million contract over three years from California's Department of Transportation to implement the state's construction management system.

Specifically, the project will transform the state's construction management business systems by automating a paper-based workflow and by replacing out-of-date computer systems, the company announced Oct. 26.

CGI, an IT and business-process service provider, will install a web-based system that will be comprised of mobile job site computing, smart forms and an online document management system to help employees research project records and improve reporting.

The contractor will also use its AMS Advantage system, built to streamline business processes, eliminate redundant data entry and improve access to information.

The contract includes six one-year options for maintenance and operations work.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal, ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
