SAIC outfits Navy with new IA, cybersecurity support

Science Applications International Corp. will provide information assurance and other IT support to the Navy under a prime contract that could be worth more than $210 million if all options are exercised.

The contract calls for SAIC to provide the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic with information assurance and cybersecurity services for its mission of providing tactical, strategic and operations support, according to an Oct. 12 SAIC announcement.

SAIC will provide IA in support of military health information systems, software development, systems integration, afloat and shore computer network defense modernization, and IT operations.

This support will include cybersecurity programs, information systems modeling and simulation, wide area and local area network development, performance and integration and communications systems, the announcement said.

The work will be performed in Charleston, S.C., and Washington, D.C.

SSC Atlantic's Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance/Information Operations Department provides technical support services to the Defense and Navy departments, military health systems, the Homeland Security Department, and other federal and state agencies, the SAIC announcement added.

SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
