Oracle jumps into public cloud arena

Larry Ellison announces Oracle Public Cloud

 Oracle Corp. rolled out plans to enter the public cloud business at the company's OpenWorld conference, reports CRN.

During his closing remarks on Oct. 5, CEO Larry Ellison said Oracle Public Cloud would be available on a monthly subscription basis and would combine platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service capabilities, the article said.

Ekkison said the move is intended to accommodate the company's new cloud-based Oracle Fusion applications as well as extensions to those applications and custom-built apps.
