Northrop Grumman layoffs could affect 200 by Memorial Day

Another 600 employees accepted buyouts

Northrop Grumman Corp. will be handing out about 200 pink slips, mostly in Maryland, by the end of the month, reports the Baltimore Sun.

The moves comes after the giant federal contractor was unable to get more employees to take voluntary buyouts - about 600 employees accepted that option.

In Maryland, the company's Linthicum headquarters and facilities in Annapolis, Sykesville and Elkridge will be affected, as well as locations in Virginia, Connecticut and Florida, according to the newspaper.
