CSC acquires cyber threat intelligence company

VRL will be integrated within buyer's global cybersecurity business

Computer Sciences Corp. has acquired Vulnerability Research Labs, a privately held cyber threat intelligence firm in Reston, Va. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition enables CSC to enhance its cybersecurity support to public and commercial enterprises around the world by strengthening its ability to develop unique tools and techniques, a CSC announcement today said.

Under terms of the agreement, the acquired business will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary within CSC’s global cybersecurity business, reporting to Samuel Visner, CSC vice president and cyber lead executive.

Jim Miller, VRL’s president, will continue to serve in this capacity and direct ongoing operations, CSC said.

“VRL’s capabilities will enhance CSC’s cybersecurity offerings to clients in the financial services, energy and natural resources, health care, manufacturing, and technology and consumer markets, as well as the public sector,” Visner said in the announcement.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
