General Dynamics to assist military with regional outreach

Trans-Regional Web Initiative involves establishing foreign language sites

A unit of General Dynamics Corp. will assist the Special Operations Command in reaching out to foreign audiences via the Web under a newly awarded $10 million contract.

Under the contract, General Dynamics Information Technology will help the Special Operations Command implement the Trans-Regional Web Initiative, the Defense Department announced Sept. 3.

To do this, the contractor will establish Web sites in various languages and help locate individuals and organizations that can contribute political, cultural and other types of content to the sites, according to solicitation documents. The one-year contract has four option years.

General Dynamics Information Technology of Fairfax, Va., is part of General Dynamics Corp. The parent company ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
