Jacobs Engineering to assist NASA with aerospace testing
Contractor and partners will also provide facilities operations and maintenance at Ames Research Center
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. will provide aerospace testing and other services to NASA under a five-year contract that has a potential value of about $200 million.
The follow-on contract, which takes effect July 1, calls for Jacobs to provide aerospace testing and facilities operations and maintenance at NASA’s Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.
Jacobs and its team of subcontractors — Sierra Lobo Inc. and Qualis Corp. — will also provide facilities maintenance and operations, including project development, operation of support facilities, and maintenance of aerospace facilities at Ames.
Jacobs' work history at Ames dates back to 1966, when the company began operating the center's 12-foot wind tunnel.
The latest contract continues Jacobs’ partnership with NASA, which currently includes support services for the Glenn Research Center, Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, Langley Research Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, Stennis Space Center and White Sands Test Facility.
Jacobs, of Pasadena, Calif., ranks No. 19 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
