SAIC to support DOD information assurance training

Education, training and products will help meet cybersecurity requirements

Science Applications International Corp. will provide information assurance training support to the Defense Department under a task order potentially worth $21 million over five years.

Under the agreement, SAIC will develop and deliver information assurance education, training and awareness products to help DOD meet federal cybersecurity requirements. Services will include instructional system and graphics design; multimedia programming; and a full range of services associated with information assurance and education, training and awareness products.

SAIC also will provide technical support to DISA's public-key infrastructure program, providing public-key infrastructure education, training and certification for DOD civilian and military members. In addition, SAIC will assist DOD computer network defense operators with training for protecting networks and detecting and reacting to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

The contractor will furnish most of the support in three locations: Falls Church, Va., Columbia, Md., and Chambersburg, Pa. The task order was awarded under DISA's ENCORE II contract. ENCORE II provides information technology support to military agencies, DOD and other federal agencies. SAIC is one of 26 awardees under ENCORE II.

The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization, which is part of the Defense Information Systems Agency, awarded the contract.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
