Northrop to assist Air Force with space control

Northrop Grumman Information Technology will support Air Force space control capabilities under a $12.6 million contract.

The company will assist the Air Force in developing and refining the information architecture used to control offensive and defensive operations in space, Defense Department officials announced May 1.

The contractor will also help with efforts to enhance space situational awareness and command and control capabilities, DOD officials said.

Northrop Grumman IT is a unit of Northrop Grumman Corp., of Los Angeles. The parent company ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
