Why: Day One opens with a keynote address by Army Brig. Gen. Anthony Tata, deputy director of the Joint IED Defeat Organization. Other sessions include updates on research and development activities and training and simulation efforts.

Soldier Technology U.S. 2009

Where: Hyatt Regency, Crystal City, Arlington, Va.

Why: This conference includes a field trip to Stafford, Va., to visit the Marine Corps Gruntworks Squad Integration Facility, where participants will learn about the Marines’ new systems engineering approach to equipping a squad. Other sessions at the conference include presentations on networking the small-unit fight and the role of imaging sensors with mounted and dismounted soldiers.
