AT&T builds Army data network in Germany
AT&T Government Solutions will build an advanced data network for the Army in Germany under a contract worth approximately $23 million.
Under the terms of the award, the company will deploy a data network solution for the U.S. Army installation at Grafenwoehr, Germany, home of the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Center, considered to be the Army’s premier overseas training area, company officials said.
The advanced data network will extend the Global Information Grid and service Army operations in Germany.
The telecommunications contractor also will perform additional outside plant construction and extend the data network for Rose Barracks in Vilseck, Germany, near Grafenwoehr. AT&T will install and test the data network, which will support Army personnel in 600 JMTC buildings.
The Product Manager Defense Communications Systems=Europe (PM DSC-E) issued the award through the U.S. Army Infrastructure Modernization contract, an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity vehicle, company officials said.
PM DSC-E is part of the Network Service Center Project Management Office, an organization of the Army Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems.
AT&T Government Services is a division of AT&T Inc. The parent company, of San Antonio, Texas, ranks No. 38 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
