Milcom 2008: Nov. 16-18<>
Where: San Diego Convention Center

Why: During the past 27 years, Milcom has
developed into one of the premier defense
technology events. It is more than a satellite
show. The three-day conference offers a
who's who of military leaders. It is hard to
imagine a conference with more medals
and ribbons on display. The conference is
an opportunity for industry to showcase
the latest technologies covering communication
systems, computer hardware and
software, electronic warfare, intelligence
gathering, network integration and wireless
technology. If you play in the conference's
golf tournament Nov. 16, you could win a
2009 BMW Roadster if you make a hole in
one.

ProjectWorld and World Congress for Business Analysts: Nov. 18-21

Where: Disney's Contemporary Resort,
Orlando, Fla.

Why: This event isn't targeted specifically
at the government market, but Karen
Evans, administrator of e-government and
information technology at the Office of
Management and Budget, and retired Lt.
Gen. Russel Honore, commander of Joint
Task Force Katrina, are two of the keynote
speakers. The event offers an opportunity
to hear lessons from other industries that
are taking on complex problems and using
IT to solve them. For example, you'll hear
from executives from JetBlue Airways on
portfolio management and Kindred
HealthCare on what's so hard about soft
skills.
