SAIC inks NASA, DHS tech deals
Science Applications International Corp. has won two new civilian agency contracts worth a combined total of $226 million.
The company picked up an 11-month, $212 million extension from NASA to continue providing services under the Unified NASA Information Technology Services contract through November 2009, company officials said late Thursday.
As a result, the contractor based in San Diego will continue to furnish IT services to NASA centers, headquarters and international sites and networks. This agreement covers services involving wide-area networks, IT security, digital television and integrated enterprise management.
The extension raises the total value of services provided under the contract to more than $1.1 billion since it was awarded in 2004.
SAIC also won a task order potentially worth $14 million over five years from the Homeland Security Department to provide services for an information system to support first responders, company officials said.
The Responder Knowledge Base, as the system is known, is a Web-based information service that allows first responders to share information across departments and jurisdictions. Under the task order, SAIC will host, maintain and enhance the Web site.
The work, which will be performed primarily in Abington, Md., was awarded through the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions contract.
