SI wins DOD knowledge management deal

SI International will assist the Army Defense Ammunition Center with knowledge management and other IT training programs.

SI International Inc. will provide knowledge management and other information technology to the Army Defense Ammunition Center, McAlester, Okla., under a five-year contract that could be worth as much as $19 million.

Under the Millennia Lite Functional Area 2 contract vehicle from the General Services Administration, SI International will also provide training development, and electronic performance system integration and support for the effort. Knowledge management comprises a broad range of practices designed to identify, distribute and enable the optimum use of information regarding an organization's mission and purpose.

SI International has designed a knowledge management strategic plan, created Web-based training development processes and courses, and established professional development institutes for DAC instructors. The contractor, based in Reston, Va., has also created a DAC Community of Excellence, implemented a Learning Management System/Learning Content Management System and delivered help desk support services.

The Defense Ammunition Center provides ammunition training, explosives safety instruction and logistics support to Defense Department military and civilian organizations and personnel.

The SI International team includes SumTotal Systems Inc., Oklahoma State University, Training & Consulting Inc., LMI Government Consulting and Executive Development Associates Inc.

The contract has a one-year base with four one-year option periods.
