Alion to advise DHS on information sharing

Alion Science and Technology Corp. will help the Homeland Security Department improve the way it shares critical information among its components under a new contract.

Under the one-year, $1.8 million contract, Alion will provide a wide range of services to DHS' Science and Technology Directorate aimed at improving the sharing of information related to controlled unclassified information and the reporting of suspicious activities.

Among the services the company will provide are program management, systems integration and analysis. Alion will also test and evaluate information-sharing technologies.

The company plans to develop a set of information-sharing best practices and show how they can be supported by advanced technology and software.

Alion, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 31 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
