CGI to build Oregon child welfare system

CGI Group Inc. will design and install a statewide automated child welfare information system for the Oregon Human Services Department under a $29.6 million contract.

Under the 36-month project, CGI will design, develop and implement a next-generation system that will replace the state's existing Family and Children Information System. The work is being done on behalf of the department's Oregon Kids program.

The new system will support child welfare best practices, improve accountability and reporting capabilities and provide a framework for measuring program outcomes, the company said in a news release.

CGI's automated child welfare system offers comprehensive case management capabilities and uses mobile computing to support field work, Mike Keating, senior vice president for CGI's U.S. State and Local Government Group, said in the release.

With the addition of Oregon, CGI has installed child welfare systems in 10 states.

CGI, which has its U.S. headquarters in Fairfax, Va., is based in Montreal. The company ranks No. 73 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
