SAIC completes SM Consulting buy

Science Applications International Corp. has
completed its acquisition of SM Consulting
Inc., a provider of information technology and
linguistic services. Financial terms were not
disclosed.

SAIC announced its intention to buy the company
in March. SMC, of Linthicum, Md., will join
SAIC's Mission Integration Business Unit, which is
based in Reston, Va.

Italian firm to acquire DRS

DRS Technologies Inc. is being acquired for $5.2 billion
by Finmeccanica SpA, an Italian defense company
looking to expand into the U.S. market.

The Parsippany, N.J., company would be a wholly
owned subsidiary.

Finmeccanica has several U.S. subsidiaries,
most of which perform helicopter and aircraft work.

Trace builds IT base

Trace Systems LLC, a McLean, Va., systems integrator
and technical services company, bought TCP
Network Solutions Inc.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Acquisition
of the Eatontown, N.J., company brings Trace
Systems more capabilities in defense information
technology and communications.

Perot buys Original Solutions

Perot Systems Corp., of Plano, Texas, bought government
information technology services provider
Original Solutions Ltd., based in Ireland. Financial
terms were not disclosed.

Original Solutions' competencies include Web
applications and client/server development, enterprise
integration, systems re-engineering, and managing
IT services and infrastructure library processes,
Perot officials said.
