Anderson to lead CSC's civilian unit

Computer Sciences Corp. has named Tom Anderson president of the Civil Division of its recently consolidated North American Public Sector business unit.

The appointment is designed to provide executive leadership and strategic direction for much of the company's business with federal civilian agencies, the company said. Anderson will report to James Sheaffer, president of the North American Public Sector business unit, formerly the CSC Federal Sector.

Before the consolidation, CSC's civilian agency business was split between two separate groups. Combining them into the Civil Division boosts the company's ability to make investment decisions, align its resources and use its experience and capabilities across various agencies, the company said. The combined division has 4,000 employees.

Before joining CSC, Anderson was a vice president at Raytheon Information
Solutions, where he helped integrate the company's disparate federal government information technology offerings. Anderson has also held leadership positions at Northrop Grumman Corp., Federal Data Corp. and Boeing Computer Services.

Anderson's appointment is CSC's second major executive move in less than a month. Michael Laphen, president and chief operating officer, was elected president and chief executive officer, succeeding Van Honeycutt, on May 21.

CSC of El Segundo, Calif., has about 78,000 employees and had a revenue of $14.6 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
