New Jersey re-ups Unisys for Medicaid services

Unisys Corp. has won a three-year contract extension from New Jersey to continue managing Medicaid administrative services for the state.

Unisys Corp. has won a three-year, $90 million contract extension from the state of New Jersey to continue managing Medicaid administrative services for the state, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Unisys of Blue Bell, Pa., will continue to process and pay medical and pharmaceutical bills submitted by medical-service providers that have treated beneficiaries eligible for the state's Medicaid program. The New Jersey Department of Human Services will oversee the contract.

Unisys has provided outsourced Medicaid services to the state for 15 years, during which it has helped New Jersey expand health-care services, increase responsiveness, reduce fraud and promote equitable access to health care for program beneficiaries, company officials said.

Unisys, a global provider of IT services and solutions, has more than 36,000 employees and annual sales of $5.8 billion. The company ranks No. 22 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
