Mass. needs inmate phone system

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections wants a vendor to furnish, install and maintain a secure inmate calling system for the state's correctional institutions. A request for proposal is expected in July.

The vendor will install the system and provide telephone instruments, site location processors, digital recording and playback equipment, a centralized database, site administration, local exchange service, digital and analog data communications circuits and system training.

State seeks integrated tax system

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue wants an integrated tax system. An RFP is expected in September.

The department seeks a scalable system that integrates all tax administration functions. The system should encourage voluntary compliance with tax laws and filing requirements, process tax data at the source and provide direct data access.

GPS system for the LIRR

The New York Metropolitan Transit Authority's Long Island Rail Road plans to buy a Global Positioning System tracking solution for its vehicle fleet. An RFP is expected in August.

The vendor will install and maintain a tracking system for 600 LIRR highway vehicles. The transit authority wants an employee badge reader and a lightweight, compact black-box solution that can fit under a dashboard. The tracking system must be able to spot and report unauthorized vehicle use.

Nebraska wants data warehouse

The Nebraska Department of Revenue wants a data warehouse and intelligent data system. An RFP is expected in July.

The system should be able to gather information from disparate sources and aggregate it into a single data warehouse that can generate audit and collection leads to increase tax collection. It also should be able to establish data mining and selection criteria that would assist in audit selection and identify noncompliant taxpayers.
