The federal IT workforce tends to be older than that of the private sector, creating the potential for severe shortages across all government IT competencies, the report said.

Consequently, the "Aging Federal IT Workforce: Trends and Solutions" report predicts, agencies will rely more on outsourcing to fill vacancies and shortfalls.
