IBM Corp. has demonstrated a secure identity management solution meant to combine physical and cybersecurity into a single, integrated package.

The solution is built around IBM's Tivoli identity management software and technology from ActivCard Inc., Bioscrypt Inc., ImageWare Systems Inc. and VeriSign Inc.

Users can enroll employees, creating a smart card that includes photo, fingerprint template and legacy application passwords. The smart card can then be used for physical access, through a General Electric reader with embedded fingerprint scanner, and network access through a PC-attached reader and scanner.
