Wam!Net gets new name, president

Wam!Net Government Services Inc. has changed its name to Netco Government Services Inc. and has appointed company executive John Heller as its new president.

Heller has worked for the company for three years in various senior management positions, most recently as vice president of finance.

The name change comes as a condition of the July 30, 2003, sale of the Herndon, Va., company's commercial assets, including rights to the Wam!Net name, to Savvis Communications Corp., a St. Louis provider of Internet access, data transport and related network services.

The Netco Government Services name was chosen to reflect the design, management and engineering network services the company now provides solely to the federal sector, company officials said.
