GTSI names Ballam CIO

GTSI Corp., Chantilly, Va., has named Craig Ballam as chief information officer.

Ballam, who has been acting CIO since January, will manage the company's IT infrastructure, including application systems development, networking, telecommunications, desktop support, electronic data interchange, server administration and Internet connectivity.

Novell added to SmartBuy

After six months of negotiations, Novell Inc. become the third company to sign on to the General Services Administration's SmartBuy program.

Agencies now can buy networking infrastructure software from Novell under the enterprise software license program.

Novell created special software offerings and service levels, including bundles for infrastructure, Web services and Linux servers and desktops, with secure identity management to come, the company said.
