GSA mum on Networx details

The General Services Administration is not ready to unveil the strategic changes it will make to a $10 billion government-wide telecommunications and network services buy.

Vendors want GSA to revisit a two-prong acquisition approach: one for large telecommunications companies with national infrastructures and one for small communications companies and systems integrators that could not provide all Networx services to users nationwide.

A revised strategy for Networx, the successor to FTS2001, will be released within a month or two, and a draft request for proposals will be issued this summer, said John Johnson, assistant commissioner for service delivery in GSA's Federal Technology Service.
