Trans Digital wins $65 million State Dept. work
The Arlington, Va., company has won a five-year contract worth up to $65 million to provide passport-printing systems to the State Department.
Trans Digital Technologies Corp., Corp., Arlington, Va., has won a five-year contract worth up to $65 million to provide passport-printing systems to the State Department, the company announced last week.
The contract, a follow-on to a 1998 contract, calls for Trans Digital to provide high-security printing systems to the passport services directorate of the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs. The systems will print both photographs and personal data in a one-step process. The contract also calls for the company to provide supplies and IT support services.
Trans Digital specializes in high-security printing and biometric integration for travel documents and smart cards. In 2000, the private company was spun out from Waltham, Mass.-based instrumentation company Thermo Electron Corp. It employs 30 people, according to Christian Volmar, assistant vice president for Trans Digital.
