Navy work goes to BearingPoint

BearingPoint Inc. of McLean, Va., won a contract worth $17 million for the interoperations of four Navy supply systems, the Defense Department announced Aug. 18. Electronic Data Systems Corp., Plano, Texas, and IBM Corp., Armonk N.Y., are subcontractors.

Under the contract, BearingPoint will analyze the pilot enterprise resource planning systems the Navy is developing to be sure they can exchange data and fit into the Navy's overall enterprise design.

BearingPoint will look at interoperability in functional areas, such as financial management, program management, plant-level supply, wholesale supply and human resources management

The contract is issued as a task order from a blanket purchase order awarded July 18. The work is to be completed by December. The Naval Air Systems Command Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

The four systems are the Naval Air Systems Command's
Sigma system, the Naval Sea Systems Command's Maintenance Automated Information System, the Naval Supply Systems Command's Supply Maintenance Aviation Re-engineering Team and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command's Project Cabrillo.
