SIZE="2">Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., Ramat Gan, Israel, has introduced avirtual private network solution that doesn't require any software on client computers.
Researchers at University of
Southern California's Information Sciences Institute have developed a solution, called
Tethernet, that provides true Internet service behind network address translation-based
subnets and other Internet-challenged environments.
A client
machine at a remote location can hook into the original network using a real Internet
protocol address through a routerlike device connected to an outside service provider.
