The Iowa Department of General Services needs maintenance support for information technology equipment, telephone systems and other office equipment. A request for information was released Feb. 18; responses are due March 15. The RFP is expected in late March. The contract could be worth $12 million a year.The New York Department of Public Services is seeking geographic information systems application development and technical support. Services are needed during business hours and emergencies. An RFI was issued in late 2001. The decision to issue a contract is still being made, but an RFP is expected in the second quarter of 2002.The Indiana Department of Administration and the Department of Workforce Development want to modernize the state's unemployment insurance tax and benefits applications. The new system will provide a single point of entry for all tax, wage and benefit information and will interface with related systems. An RFP is expected in the second quarter of 2002, with an award in the fourth quarter. The California Department of Transportation wants to replace the Department of Motor Vehicle's technical infrastructure to enhance business functionality and flexibility. Some of the systems involved include the driver's license system and the vehicle registration system. A request for interest was released, and more than 100 responses were received in August 2001. However, the state has had a hard time getting to the next phase of releasing a solicitation. State officials now say an RFP should be released in March or April.
