Verizon nabs Norfolk MAA

Verizon Federal Inc., a subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc., New York, won a $350 million General Services Administration contract to provide telecommunications services for federal agencies in the Norfolk, Va., metropolitan area.

Verizon Federal Inc., a subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc., New York, won a $350 million General Services Administration contract to provide telecommunications services for federal agencies in the Norfolk, Va., metropolitan area.

The four-year contract, with four additional one-year options, is for voice, switched-data and dedicated-line services to agency offices in Norfolk and the surrounding municipalities of Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg, York County and the northern portions of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.

The contract is part of GSA's Metropolitan Area Acquisition program for local telecommunications services. So far, GSA has awarded 24 MAA contracts.
